Dresden flannel timpani mallets
Immediate delivery
Delivery time between 3 - 5 days (within Germany)
Traditional timpani mallets made of flannel discs. A coloured tension nut fixes the layered discs on the wooden thread and marks their hardness level.
The sound characteristics of the Dresden flannel timpani mallets are very versatile. They are harder, more succinct and clearer than the Viennese flannel mallets and develop - when broken in - an additional soft, clearly defined timbre. Due to this extreme versatility these durable timpani mallets can be played in a multitude of pieces and casts.

Sound
Item no. | Sound |
DF26 | very hard, succinct / percussive / good rebound especially for small timpani and baroque music |
DF30 | all-round mallet / bright, clear, lean frequency spectrum / good rebound |
DF34 | clear, lean / good rebound |
DFP26 | succinct, very clear / rich in fundamentals / very good rebound |
DFP30 | all-round mallet / rich in fundamentals with large sound volume / very good rebound |
DFP34 | very powerful with very large sound volume / rich in fundamentals / very good rebound |
DFT26 | succinct, clear / balanced frequency spectrum / top heavy mallets |
DFT30 | all-round mallet / clear, round / large sound volume / balanced frequency spectrum / top heavy mallet |
DFT34 | warm, round / very large sound volume / balanced frequency spectrum / top heavy mallet |
Please note
The plastic tension nut is not glued to the wooden thread, so that the hardness level of the flannel mallet can be adjusted individually. In order to avoid damage to the thread, please adjust the tension nut gently with care.
Shaft variants
Material | Shaft design | Shaft Ø | Shaft length | |
DF26 / DF30 / DF34 | hornbeam, lacquered | narrow centre | approx. 8/13 mm | 350 mm |
DFP26 / DFP30 / DFP34 | common beech, lacquered | narrow centre | approx. 9/15 mm | 370 mm |
DFT26 / DFT30 / DFT34 | tonkin, waxed | cylindric | approx. 11 mm | 370 mm |
We use exclusively hand-picked, optimally processed tonkin cane, hornbeam and common beech wood. The mallets are assorted and matched in weight so that they fit together as pairs. The tonkin shafts with plugged ends are matched for their nodal points.
