Lightning, thunder and cloudbursts - these are the essential elements of a thunderstorm. But to dote the frighteningly beautiful natural spectacle with perfection, something else is missing: the wind. As orchestral literature demonstrates, composers have implemented thunderstorm phenomena in a great variety of ways on a large scale and have preferred the use of percussion instruments for this purpose. They recognised its diverse sound spectrum, which ideally imitates natural sounds.

Description

In this variant of the wind machine "Forte" the interior of the shell is additionally filled with large wooden blocks. When the shell is rotated, both the wind noise and a thunder/rumble occur. The rumbling can be varied or completely removed by removing the wooden blocks via a flap on the shell. Accordingly, this instrument can be used both as a pure wind machine and as a rumble machine.
